Untitled (Where Are You?)
Digital video/video installation (2024)
My concept was to create a partially narrative work that follows sound in intensity. I wanted to glitch and distort reality on the screen, manipulating the video around the cracks in the TV and exploring ideas of a fake reality trying to become real. I didn’t have a particular inspiration for this piece, I just wanted to see where my footage would take me. The sound in the piece will be a soundscape I created in my AI class. The individual elements are completely generated sounds, but I looped, edited, and composed the track itself.
This is a video sculpture, displayed in a dim classroom on a large broken TV I own. It was set up on a lone table to the side of the room, where you would have to have to back to everything else and stand in/face the corner to view it. The video itself is a loop, alluding to the inescapable distortion of reality I aimed to achieve.
